Dr Terry, I have a blue 253 out of a 82VH Commodore. Ive read in some rebuild books that the blue motors have the "B" cast heads as standard. Is this correct? And also can you get 253 head gaskets, Re- the correct bore size. Or are only 308's avaiable and is there much cc loss and lower comp ratio with the larger sealing ring of a 308? I hope you under stand what I'm getting at. Regards Darius

I can answer the first bit for Terry. B cast heads are HDT heads fitted to some VC-VK Brock engines, and also some VH-VK Police cars. They are only fitted to the 5 litre examples as far as I know. They have a big rough B cast into the end of eac |

Hi crowe.
Byron has answered the B head question.
253 bore head gaskets were commonplace 25 to 30 years ago but a bit scarce these days.
You may still find a pair at a swap meet or similar.
Use 308 ones, the drop in compression is only minor. |
If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0 |
