Hi guys, I,m just wondering if anyone has had experience with aftermarket (under dash) air con units. I,m looking at installing air con in my hx 1 tonner (350 chev engine)but didn,t want to go the way of the integrated factory units. any info would be appreciated . thanks.

you can still buy them new
seen them in some cars shops they are notmally on sale at car shows
theres on next weekend in perth

I've put one in my LH, and one in my HQ. Both were second hand units, but are fine. Almost time I replaced the fan in the HQ unit, though, as it's a bit rattly. Bit of mucking around with brackets and condensors, though, but not difficult to do. I ins

Just contacted a few people about this in Melbourne last week...
As I was thinking of putting chev motor in the HZ tonner.You can buy the brackets straight off the shelve for the GM/Harrison compressors which I understand to be the same, but not for th

sandans appear on a lot of cars, I pulled one off a VH 202.
I have a bunch of used compressors that came off wreckers stock to suit VH to VR, mostly 6 cyl but dont know if same as 8. dont see why they would be different, after they are cooling the same c

Thanks for the replies guys, I,m going to hold off for a bit longer and see what else is around in regards to aftermarket stuff, i,ve asked a few places for quotes and no-ones got back to me yet, so i,ll see what happens . I,ll just keep the windows down

I went through a similar process to you about 12 months ago. What I ended up doing was scouring the wrecking yards until I found an aftermarket but intergrated unit for a HJ-WB. I found that there are still plenty around and the type I settled

Car show in Perth had some on sale that fitted up under the dash. Size is about 250mm x 200mm. Armadale Auto parts West Aus have just started to import them. I am going to remove the glove box and maybe fit it up under, i shall see what happens. They a
