202 EFI cylinder head V's normal head?

Gday all, In the Gregorys work shop manual in the supliment section on the EFI for VK's it states:
"The cylinder head and inlet valves have been re-designed to inprove gas flow"
So two questions:
1. What are the changes that where made in relation to a standard head?
2. Can the EFI run on a standard head or do you need to use the EFI head or modify a standard head to EFI specs?
Secondly it also states:
"The camshaft, pistons, timing gears, exaust system and cylinder head gasket have been re-desighned to suite the improved performance of the engine"
So the question here is: Do any of these need to be changed on a standard motor before the EFI unit is fitted?
I have read the articals posted on this sight in relation to doing the swap but have not read anything in relation to the type of engine used. Was it the EFI engine, stock with moderfied head or just stock?

i can answer question 2 ..EFI heads are 12 port... from what i know pistons are the same but con rods are stronger cam is larger...are you fitting efi on red motor....if so just fit blue or black head 12 port....

I think he's asking if a carbed VK head is the same as EFI VK head from what I read in the original post?? If so I think they are almost identical except the carbed head has ports for the air injection. They are both 12 port.

I think hes asking if a carbed VK head is the same as EFI VK head from what I read in the original post?? If so I think they are almost identical except the carbed head has ports for the air injection. They are both 12 port.

EFI cam is bigegr. Close to 30/70 70/30 if you "un-retard" it ie use a 0deg timing set. Only other difference apart from fuel, spark and air pump stuff is the engine number prefix VL for carby, VK for EFI.

Sorry should have mentioned looking at putting it on a WB Panelvan fitted with Blue 202.
I am asuming the valave differance would be in the cut on the valve face and I am asuming the differance in the head is the lack of air injectior holes. This is wh |

Cam is significtly different, and has a delated inlet closing to take advantage of the ram tube effect. Send me an email and i'll send you the lobe profile.

The valve shape and cylinder head shape in the efi heads is ever so slightly diferent (answering q. #1), this was to improve gas flow.
If you are looking at doing the conversion I would strongly recommend you jump onto ebay and buy a GMH Service manual |

Ok so we have established use the black EFI head, change the cam (a must do) and get a GMH service manual, appart from that all else shoulds be ok.
So any comments on the ported Blue head? use or not use with the EFI set up?
