i have found a place that does knife edged counterweighted cranks for the humble 202. I was just wondering whether it is better than the red motor crank, or, more to the point, whether it will rev more. if it doesn't is there any real point in going with this crank? or should i go with a red crank? it's going into a blue block by the way.
the cranks retail for $345 exchange, or $445 alone.

I found the red cranks being lighter picked up revs quicker, however detail in getting a dynamic balance is important to reduce an occurrence of harmonic vibration. That is what the counterweighted cranks were built for, but being heavier.

I found the black motor efi crank revved far easier higher and quicker than the original 202, max I could get out of the original was about 120kmh the black one gave 140 and still had more to go. Maybe better balance? but this was with injection.

About 7 years ago I organised to get a 202 built for a friend. I sourced the blue block, crank and rods for it. No expense was spared (about $5000 from memory). It was going in an old HR ute. It was machined, properly balanced and had the best YT could of |

I read your request with interest as i took my Blue 202 to Crankshaft Rebulders in Melbourne to get some work done in 2001. I took delievery of it and noticed that the crank looked like it was done in reverse with the trailing edge thin and the leading ed

mmm... i do want this crank, as most racers knife edge their cranks, but will it rev more, or earlier than the red crank?

Try a stock red one, document the results, then try a stock blue one, document the results, then try the knife edged blue one and document the results, and let us know. |

Well it has a lot of variables and your own engine variables will play a part. I have seen a 186 (Red crank of course) rev to 8500rpm The crank was not knife edged. Realistically you need to list all of the components you have (Block, head, valves, rocker |

o.k deal: Blue Crank and rods ACL race series 2.2cc dished pistons 12 port head, huge ports for turbo T04 turbo running @ 20psi Blue block 1.7" inlet valve 1.7" exhaust valves around 215-220 degrees duration @ .050" on widish 112-114 lsa cam Strai Edited by user Tuesday, 11 December 2007 5:20:24 AM(UTC)

All sounds good, but I reckon a stroked 308 would be cheaper! And more reliable. And faster. Plus a TH400 would bolt straight to it.

Ahhhh. I love it. It looks like a good combo to me. I am partial to straight LPG forced induction, but that is just my leanings. I think you have something that will turn heads and will shake the 308 boys on the track. And no I dont think I will do a 1/4 |

go for the knife edging, and dont 4 get a windage tray in the sump. these two together should be worth at least 10 HP, maybe 15.
Use the blue flywheel, is alot lighter than a red one anyway., by 5KG?

Boom, i have had some hot 6's the problem i found (especially with Toyota gearboxes behind them) is that the clutch gives up. you may have to go for a triple plate clutch as Peter said. its hard to get all that power thru a std. holden 6 clutch
