Hey, I am looking at an XD Fairmont Ghia with the ID tag showing that it has an H code engine. From what I 've found out, the H code was a high compression 4V engine that is even rarer than a T Code. I can only find info stating that the H code was used in XW phase II's. Does anyone know anything about these engines, where they were made, what were the figures on compression and power output, and how rare would it be to find this engine in an XD Fairmont Ghia Sportsman? Any help would be appreciated!

Well you learn something new every day. I couldn't find any info on the H code XDs so I phoned a mate who is a bit of a Guru with Vins and stuff ( Thanks Cam ). Turns out he has come across a H code XD once before and couldn't find out any info either.

I had a 81 LTD that had the H code for its engine.

It was made for NSW sales only. I thought it was something special too, but its not.

Engine code H = 5.8 litre V8 auto (NSW only)

T = 5.8 litre V8 auto (all states except NSW)

AND T (yes it's listed twice) 5.8 litre V8 manual (all
