Another company gone under and a loss of 300 jobs, this in turn will see how many of the 140 inderpendent AutoPro shops will close or cut back on workers?
Run by ACL for 10 years they where forced to close because " revenue has declined from $209 million to $175 million in 2006-07" and the fact that there is an increase in compition as well as Australians buying new cars raither than repairing the old ones.
This is related to many a topic we have discussed in our forums and the direction of the car industry here in Australia. I wonder sometimes if we will end up being a country of inported transport and spare parts?
I feel sorry for my local Autopro store and hope that they can survive by sourcing other parts suppliers.
So Im just wondering what your thoughts are on this?

I reckon the competition is not actually that flash for the consumer. What you end up with is the cheap bits are made in China (or similar) from cheapest materials. The margins are low because they are looking for volume. The places who have the higher |

I can see Dr Terry has strong feelings about this and raises some very good points and I appriciate the fact that he has taken the time to explaing it in a monetary way. I think some of the comments not only apply to the automotive industry but to a lot o |
