someone asked if they could charge a car battery while its still connected to the leads, I would disconnect them, but what happens if you dont?

you could overfill the battery with electricity and it will flood out of the wires and ruin your interior

But in truth u can make it bubble over. use a timer to charge it maybe 2 hrs a day.

There's nothing stopping you charging it without undoing the terminals, however there are some risks involved.
1. Voltage spike - most 'cheap' chargers are poorly regulated, and when charging, rely on the battery charging load to keep them regulated - |

the disadvantage off disconnectiong the battery is the pain in the arse of having to reset all the clocks and radio memories etc. but I have a small 12 volt battery off an alarm system and I connect that across the terminals before I disconnect the batter
