hi, could someone please tell me EXACTLY how to remove the steering lock barrel assy from the steering column. i have the lock cylinder housing on the bench

i need to replace the plastic cog that drives the pushrod to the ignition switch

i've got a good one in an HZ column, so i need to find out how to pull that one apart too

hopefully, the 2 cogs are interchangeable. the whole lock housing doesn't appear to be, the q lock goes in on an angle and the z is horizontal

gregory can't help (surprise surprise)

yes sonny, it's an HQ ute

Hi Ten, I can't answer all of your post, but to get the barrel out.
1- put key in and turn it to the off position.
2- There will be a (I think a vertical slot in the alloy housing, about level with the inner most end of the barrel.
3- Using a pointed in

Fairly certain that the rack and pinion mechanism is different, HZ and WB had a "claw" which is built into the key barrel which goes over the top of the gears. I think it was an atempt to improve security of the ignition and steering locks.

you will need to do above for removal and also remove the whole hub assembly from the column to get the cog out...also the cog changes at hx so hq not the same as hz...also when reassembling the cog and teeth make sure you dont end up 1 tooth out on eithe
going to church makes you no more a christian than standing in a garage makes you a car...
