I've read on here that a few guys have performed an efi engine swap.I've just fitted a 5.7 and 6 speed into my VN SS.
I've used the original Delco 808 computer and it runs fine. The VN Models here in NZ don't run O2 sensors or Knock sensors, I was going to wire these into the ecu using the wiring from the 082.

What I'm wondering is, I have the 082 computer from an HSV manual with a modified chip from PowerChip.
(1) Is it possible to fit the 082 in place of the 808. I've read that the baud rate is different and the diagnostic plug for the 082 is on the dash wiring loom and the 808 diagnostic plug is a part of the VN engine loom. would it be feasible to to wire in the 082 plug into the VN loom.
(2) I know that the 082 communicates with the BCM for security purposes and requires a coded key to unlock various functions. Can this function be deleted by removing the required wiring. Has anyone done this...

Youve heard correctly about the 808 diagnostic plug being in the engine loom, and the 082 being in the dash loom. Baud rate is different as well.
The easiest way to remove the BCM input is to do it in the Memcal.
Wy dont you just use the engine harness

Thanks for that Byron. I was kinda hoping to use the Powerchip memcal,( because its suppose to be good for 234Kw) in the 808 computer. Ive already changed the distributor plug to suit the 5.7. Ive got a powerflow supercharger Kit to go on yet but I was ho

I've done this conversion on my HJ Coupe with the 082 ECU and modified memcal to run VR software and utilise lean cruise and realtime datalogging and tuning with the appropriate hardware. As Byron said the security has to be disabled on the memcal.
