More problems with the XF.....
I have reason to believe the oil pump isn't keeping up.

slow to come up to preasure at startup and hot after higher ( not that high) RPM the oil light comes on at idle.....combine that with a bit of tipity tapity from the lifters & i'm a bit sus of the oil pump.
The sum has been bashed pretty good & this might be restricting the intake too.

I recon that I need to whip the sump off and put one on that looks less like keith richards' face.

so while 'I'm doing that I may as well slap a new pump in it... it seems a pretty straight forward operation.

now I have heard that there are high capacity pumps available to replace the stock item & I'm thinking that might not be a bad idea.

Are pumps for these 4.1 litre motors available as an aftermarket item and what's the story with the high capacity pumps.
I gathe no body would bother to reco a pump these days.

cheers

I would put a master gauge in first and confirm your oil pressure is low, gauges in dashes and sender units can be mis-leading.
Sump off is really quite a time consuming job so I would make sure that is your problem. I would expect a standard oil pump wo
