I'm told a 9'' differential behind a standard Holden 253 v8
isn't suitable as it take 50 horses to just turn over the differential any truth in this.

50 horses is alot of power sap? I do not know why you would put a 9 inch behind a stock 253 anyway as Holden diffs would be more than amlpe. I guess it would depend on ratios for a start, as the only other factor I could see would be the weight factor?

Yes it will fit but will increase the rear track by 50mm so if you are running deep dish wheels they are going to rub.

If at first you don't succe

G'day,I read a magazine article years ago and they did a before and after dyno test on a 9 inch install and the difference was 21killerwasps at the wheels.

The 9inch 31spline weighs about 20kgs more than a regular ford rearend(tinplater)it takes a fair
