Hello out there. Bought a Rochester 4 barrel at a swap meet yesterday 3/8" fuel inlet nut type, 7042202 DJ- 1723. Is it for a 1972 US automatic? Also I once found somewhere that Australian built cars had the digit 8 in the second last spot on the first group of numbers eg 7042282.is this true of Australian built chev engined cars from HK to HQ? Any help appreciated thanks Oily.

70 = Rochester Products Corp 4 = 1970 to 1975 2 = 1972 2 = Federal standards quadrajet 0 = Chevrolet 2 = Auto
DJ = customer code 1723 = 21 Jun 1973?
172 = 172nd day of the year 3 = year
are you sure the last bit is 1723?

The date stamps are often out. I've seen it on plenty of carbs when the year in the main number is the year before the year in the second number. Even as much as what you have (ie about 6-8 months).
