Any of you old timers remember what the WW Strommy looked like when new? I seem to remember they were more an olive colour than the gold chromate used by some rebuilders eg see pic. I am talking about the body not the linkages. Any other of you guys think they should be olive green chromate rather than gold? Or maybe even just the slightly dull silver for plain zinc no chromate or a quick zap in blue/clear chromate just for a bit of oxidation protection? cheers

Hi GMH 68.
Ill put my hand up to say Im probably an old timer. The early onset of my grey hair has come from hard work, thats my story anyway.
Yes, you are dead right, the original finish was more of a greeny gold & also it had a sheen about it. Mos |
If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0 |

Hi Dr Terry, thanks for your reply, yes I thought that might be the case. Being zinc diecast I imagine they just used a green dyed chromic acid dip to colour and protect the zinc surface. I am gathering together some different colour chromates so will do
