Can anyone shed some light on a hk Belmont sedan i have just purchased. It is an original 2nd owner so the army first and then the owner i bought it off. It is a very weird factory order. there are no chrome inserts in the rubbers around the windscreen. No gutter trim chrome. No large build tag (factory) but small tag build. Car is still in Full army green with white rims and chrome hubcaps. Does anyone know how many were built for the army etc. I am tossing up to restore or wreck. Factory three speed etc. It has to be rare I believe. Its not for sale but I am just interested to know. Drum brake front end with big nut master cylinder, no booster. hydraulic clutch all original.

Belmonts do not have chrome or bright work on gutters, windscreen bonnet etc.

Even army cars have body id tags, so yours must simply have been removed.

The Army would have ordered several hundred of these cars, just like the Air Force, Navy, council

1) There are two locations for the big tag on an HK, in the centre of the firewall for pre 8/68 cars and on the cowl panel after that. If your car does not have a body identification plate then I would suggest that that in itself is very rare, as I have n

Hi nhawtin,

You will need to re-read the details on the ID plate as there is obviously a mistake in the recording of some of the numbers/codes. Some of the characters may be covered in paint or grime as there is no 16b trim code in HK for starters.
