hey guys,
just wondering if anyone can help me sometimes when i turn off my car it coughs and splutters for a bit then turns off, it doesnt just switch off like it should. any help would be good thanks

Hi problems. You dont mention what model car or engine you have, but either the idle is set too fast or the idle stop solenoid (if it has one), is not set properly. Dr Terry Edited by user Friday, 19 September 2008 1:20:32 AM(UTC)

how many klms or miles on the clock it could be pre ignition

hey guys sorry it is a 307 in a hk holden, don't think idle is set too high but sometimes when you put it park after driving it'll go up to about 1500 rpm thats normally when it happens, but my idle is normally around 1000rpm

There is your problem. 1500 to 1000 rpm is way too fast. The factory spec is around 500 rpm in drive or 600 in neutral. If you have a lumpy cam, then you will have this problem, because you have to make it richer & faster at idle so it wont stall. If you |

sounds like peignition from using regular in a hicompression motor. In the 60s the fuel was 98ron so that could be the problem. but it sounds like the throttle shaft might be bent in the carbie i had probems with a holley that had a stiky throttle and f

hey thanks for your responses carby is brand new so i doubt that it would be bent. i have a real lumpy cam so i'm guessing its my idle thanks Dr Terry. i'll see if i can get it any lower otherwise i'll just turn it off in D..
