Righto here we go,

I was looking at a HJ Monaro to buy the other day. The VIN reads: 869QRFLl337952J. Which to me says Monaro. Upon close inspection of the Chassis rail the chassis number was BHZ 12094-A. On the compliance plate the number reads BHJ 50814-A. I am a bit confused as to what to do. I do not want to buy a re birth or rebirth it myself as I beleive there are enough dodgy ones out there already. The other numbers are:
Body: 184036-A
Trim: 1894-60V
Paint: 567-15940
Eng: L32
Gear box: M40
Diff: GU7
Brakes: JL2

Any thoughts. I just think it's all a bit too fishy and that it may be a HZ Premier with GTS plates put on it.
Cheers

Its a 4 door HJ GTS but the rails have been changed - probably the originals were crashed or cracked, or possibly someone wanted to make it handle better as the HZ rails on it have RTS. The original rails would have had the number off the ADR plate you qu

My bad. The JL2 is off the letter the guy received from GMH verifying all the details. Is it still worthwhile buying the car as a monaro or do you think it just end up a really well done mock up? It also doesnt have the original pop rivets in the ID plate

It could well be just a HZ body with HJ GTS ID. HZ body is easy to tell. HJ has bulkhead connector in wiring harness and foot dipper switch.

Thanks for the responses. I found the dipper switch on the floor and confirmed it was in a bingle in 1998 and had the chassis rails replaced. I bought it and is now filling the void in the shed.
Cheers
