we have a VL 5 speed out of a 6 cylinder, can we put this behind a 253 blue motor in a WB that has a 4 speed in it now???

No you cant. The bellhousing wont match up, theres no provision for a mechanical clutch, and various other issues.
Better off getting a VN-VS V8 T5 gearbox, or one of the conversions using a supra 5 speed.
