I am sick of the crappy reception where I live in the bush, thinking of rigging a car stereo up as they seem to have far superior reception due no doubt to the fact they have to work in difficult situations.
Any hints on the best way to go about it? I did try once before but the reception was still crap. no doubt I had the aerial rigged wrong or something, maybe the earthing?
I was thinking of something like a VN Eurovox, I have one in my other car and it works pretty good .
Thanks

hey johnperth,
a good head unit always helps with reception,,
but being in the bush, the best thing you can do is acquire a longer ariel,
when they switch too digital, it may be betterer as it is??
eg, analogue tv, needed a good high tuned attennae,,
more than basketcase than a bear!
DOH!!!

thanks bcb. I wasnt planning to spend much at all.
digital is a way off. but I have the impression all radio stations will be digital and so all existing radios will be obsolete.

My VP and my EB Falcon have the same type of head unit fitted. The radio range on the Falcon is way better than the Commodore. It was really good on the last 3 Falcons too.

Therefore the cheapest way to improve your reception may be to fit an antenn

Oops read it wrong. When you rig the antenna it will probably work better if you earthed the mounting nut somehow (it is grounded when fitted to the car body)
