Hi Folks. My ZD Fairlane developed a pinhole in the radiatore where the top tank is soldered on. I took it to the guy who recoed it and he reckons that my top tank is bulging under pressure and recommended that I go for a "weaker" thermostat. I currently run a 180 degree thermostat and the manual recommends a 188. any suggestions on thermostat selection or any other experiences like this? The car runs a mild 302W with a C4 running through a remote trans cooler.
Thanks

Mate, sounds like the guy who did the recore is looking for a cop out. Surely he can track down another top somewhere? And by rights he should have pressure tested the whole system after he did the recore anyway.

Hi Paul. I was being a bit charitable but it did occur to me that he was covering his tracks after doing a crook job. We'll see how it stacks up after he re-solders it.
Cheers

6Pak, the guy is having a lend of you the thermostat has nothing to do with the system pressure, thats the caps job, so check your cap, easy way to check if your thermostat is working is get the engine up to operating temp and feel the rad hoses there sho
