Hey all.

recently the family VN wagon had to get its faulty green and white orriginal Victorian rego replaced because most of the paint fell of them. having an orriginal registration on a car is something i am passionate about, so i was pretty peeved at the police officer who made us do it. one other thing i was even more angry about was we had to hand in the plates at vic roads and they simply threw them out "so they cant be used for a robbery" when you can hardly read them.

so will EEC-335 be re issued as a blue and white plate? if not what will happen to it?

cheers

If its anything like NSW, it wont be re-issued under general issue, but it will be available as a personal combo, on whatever style of personal plates are available.

The vicroads website would be a good place to start.

Did he fine you?

Cos if he didnt...what are you worried about? It not like the original rego makes the car (admittedly it is a classic)worth any more. The simple fact is the plates were not roadworthy...they must be reflective..that simple.

I am surprised that you couldnt go in and order replacement plates with the same rego number. I bet you could have if you took them in one at a time but hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Thats what smash repairers do.

In WA you can get both the black on yellow and blue on white plates re-made. I got mine done about a year ago, it cost $11.30 in total and took about a month to get done. Quite good really.
