A mate has had an XY in the shed for 20 years that he belives is a GS. however the compliance plate suggests otherwise (I think, but I'm a Holden man so don't understand these things).

SIDO No: 102629
Model: 18133
Engine: G
Trans: N
RR AX: S
Paint: UW
Trim: S
FORD FALCON 500 SED.
JG231D 62160C

Can someone ID this car please, including running gear and colour?

Thanks

Thanks for that. How would you tell if it was a GS? I guess the six seating capactity means it had a bench seat in the front, and a column shift auto or three on the tree?

The owner bought the car around 20 years ago as a green V8 four speed with 8-3/4

I do not know if the Ford Discovery Centre could tell you anything from your VIN number? The build sheet would be the only thing to tell you if it was a genuine GS I would think, XY,s are not my scene?
I would suspect not a GS and if it has been converte

Trans code N meant 3 on the tree manual. The engine code being 200 cubic inches I doubt if the GS pack was available on the lowly 200 but I might be wrong.

contrary to popular belief, there is no way of telling a GS by the numbers.
dont be fooled by what ford tell you either.

Yeah, I would believe that could be correct. Like I said, It would not be hard to make a fake GS. The fact that it was a 200ci column shift etc, it probably will never be worth as ridiculous prices as a genuine K code or similar.

Thanks for your help Gents.

One other thing, this car has what appears to be factory air conditioning. Is there anything on the tag which would reflect this?

The factory air had vents in the kick panels and one in the centre of the dash (at least on Fairlanes and they are all that I have ever seen with factory air).

It's highly possible though that the engine and A/C came from a ZC or ZD Fairlane. What is
