Will somebody help out the un-washed? I was led to understand that FORD Australia built Falcon GT's for their domestic market and exported CKD-kits to FORD South Africa where they were called the Fairmont GT351 and as the straight six motored cars were the Fairmont GS in SA that their equivalent in Australia would be a Falcon GS! So much for being clever!!!!
Anyway, I happened to cross-wires with a nice couple of people in New Zealand that own a XW Fairmont GS 302 with 3-speed auto column shift. The car is original (?) has a big shiny metal tag on the firewall which means it was built in Australia (Right?) or were these cars assembled in New Zealand? She is painted in her original Reef Green with Black upholstery (the seat inserts seem different weaved material) and the door panels have a "wood-grain" insert. The car certainly looks great apart from a slight crack on the dash and she is standing on period American-type 5-slot CRAGAR mags. The steering wheel is also different to the GT-type and no rev-counter. What can this car be worth in Australia and does anybody want it? I will put you directly in contact with the owner if you are!!!!!

Sorry I got you a bit wrong.

Models were Falcon (base), Falcon 500 (mid) and the top of the line in that body was the Fairmont so yes it was a separate model. Then you had the "sporting Falcon GT's which cost more than a Fairmont. There were also long
