g'day just wonder what is involved in putting a fuel injected motor in a car that never had fuel injection, eg a xr with a fuel injected 6 out of a later model, how do u go with the computer etc?

Well it depends on what you want to put in there.

An XE/XF 4.1 EFI would be fairly easy to do as you would just need to bolt the engine in and wire the ECU up as well as plumb a return fuel line back to your tank and connect the charcoal cannister.

so theres a little bit involved what i would like to do is a xr falcon fuel injected turbo'ed 6 with a 4 or 5 speedmanual the xe/xf sounds like it would be the go

hey jim i can get my hands on a 6 out of a ea, what else should i take its still in the car, like wiring loom? it is a auto matic is it a simple change to a manual?

If it's a 3 speed auto the swap to manual is as simple as bypassing the starter inhibitor switch and wiring up the reversing lights.

If it's a 4 speeder then you have to trick the ECU into thinking that the transmission is warm by adding resistors
