Hi all.
Been away for a few years as the XW was finished and life took over...but with a new shell in the garage so it begins again.
Hoping someone can assist with a slightly left of field idea i'm having...but can't quite pin down.
I'm looking to clean up the look around the doors on an XR ute, and converting the front doors to a frameless one-piece door glass - AKA the xa-xc couples.
I recall years ago (late 80's) seeing an XY that had one piece glass setup (still hade the door frame though) and the old guy mentioned it was factory glass from an alternate model...
My question - what model?? Does anyone know off hand? I'm going to head out to a wrecker with perspex version as a last resort, but first thoughts turn to it maybe being a mustang glass - although i would expect these to be a little longer.
Any help is appreciated!
I'll load a thread in the coming weeks when work commences on what is a very tired shell at this stage.

the glass would have been from an LH-LH torana. the glass goes in but you have to cut out the little flap that is part of the outer door skin that is welded to the inner frame(that flap also acts as 1/4 vent window locator)and the frame also needs a littl

Many thanks.
With my intent to go frameless on the doors..the bend shouldn't be a problem - i hope.
Next step - fetch me some torana glass and start fabricating the upper door section of the body to recieve said glass.
Now if only this was going

Thanks Jim.
The idea's there...have a few sticky areas to work through still but with no deadline i'm confident the solutions will come eventually. Worst case i spend lots of nights tinkering with a coldie in the garage :-)
The look should work pen

my best mate is building an XR ute, it has got torana glass(i will post a pick when i find them)and we also went down the path of frameless glass; cant remember why we didnt, but the only way we would have been able to get it to seal was to cut the frame

Just spent a few hours looking at it all further....and am going to look at two ways to resolve the frameless problem initially;
Ideal is to speak to audi to try understand their mechanism some more. When i open the door on the coupe, the glass slides
