What's in the 'style package' for a one tonner?

can anyone tell me what the 'style package' consisted of on the HQ-WB one tonners? ie. did it run through for all models, and what improvements were made for the interior and exterior?
A fading memory tells me it was a chrome front bumper and grille and hubcaps, but I'm vague on the interior changes. Any links to pics, brochures, etc. greatly appreciated.

Special vehicle package XY7 - special appearance feature items. There was only one cab-chassis model ie just a Holden cab-chassis, so no Belmont or Kingswood cab chassis. There were 2 x separate model codes for HQ: 80160 6cyl cab chassis and 80260 V8 cab chassis. The only variations apart from optional items was this XY7 special vehicle package and also the B06 Ambulance special vehicle package. For HJ-HZ XY7 was: Chrome hubcaps (Holden name letters) Chrome headlamp rims Chrome grille Chrome bar and bolts. Not sure if was applicable to HQ and if it was, when. XY7 is still listed in WB but no idea what it is exactly. Could simply be the square headlight style front on a tonner. Edited by user Saturday, 16 January 2016 12:00:37 PM(UTC)

HZ 1 tonne had a chrome grille, I believe maybe even the HX did as well but the HQ and HJ were white I am sure. The HQ-J had a white bumper and the HX-Z had a silver bumper.

It is as I stated above although I don't know for certain how HQ worked, although when HQ was released in 11/71 there is only the painted grille in the parts catalogue but later HQ parts catalogues show both painted and chrome so I suspect XY7 was released sometime in 1973 by the actual code itself. |

Thanks chaps for the great info.
Was the style (or appearance) package restricted to the exterior only, or did it extend to the interior as well, such as armrests, buckets, carpets, cigarette lighter, etc. or was that another package?
I know you could option the one tonner with the usual van/ute options such as GTS dash and factory air and so on.
The reason for all the questions is that I'll be starting on a long term resto project of an early HJ one tonner, 4.2, 4 speed, and I'd like to get it factory looking with all the period goodies.
Ah, two more questions ... 1. when did the HJ intermittent wiper switch come into existence? 2. was the 'forced' air option (centre vents) available from the very start of the HJ on the one tonner/Belmont/Kingswood?

Exterior only. There was no interior special vehicle package on cab-chassis, only what you could option separately like buckets, armrests, UD1/U21/U17 instruments etc. B06 (Ambulance package) got Premier armrests and door trims but these also got a Premier full front with matching cowl, these were mid HJ onwards only though.
Mid 1975 for CD4 intermittent wipers. C57 forced air was available from the start of HJ on commercials.
The main thing early HJ commercials was missing was retractable seat belts. These didn't come in and then were mandatory from 1/75. |

Again, many thanks, a great help. Hopefully one final question, I know you could get a bench and 4 speed (my poor memory tells me it had a bendy extension on the gear lever), but was it possible to get a 4 speed and buckets without the full console in the tonner?

XS6 and 4spd were normal options in HJ, but it was floor shift only - you could not get console shift in HJ commercials outside of Sandman. |
