Very opportune. Been looking at how to do this on my HK GTS. Is this the GenII normal unit or one of the ComPac or Mini units? I was looking at a ComPac or Mini.
I like your compressor mount.
My plan was to fit two flat outlets in the middle above the console. What did you do for controls? I was looking at replacing the heater control with a Vintage Air unit, maybe a machined face panel.
Love the heater box idea. I had looked at removing it altogether and fitting blanking plates off a non-heater car. Vintage air sell heater and gas blocks. Was going to use the top cowl air for the air cleaner intake. Might have to rethink that now! |

You used the ComPac unit? You have made my mind up to use the Mini unit. It is 1.5" narrow side to side. That should get it across far enough so I can put some vents in the middle.
I was looking at 23016-VUL in the centre between the dash and the console (twin outlet). And something like 49110-SHQ in place of the original heater controls or 491229 in a radio blank.
Ill have a better look at your compressor mount later. I too have an original HQ350 radiator.
Where did you hire the unit from in Australia? |

The dummy evaporator was supplied via my auto electrician from Cool Drive, seems that you need to have an account to buy from them. I have attached a photo of the cover sheet from the V/Air installation instructions. This unit is a very tight fit if you want the plenum vent to still open, probably 1 – 2 mm clearance left between the two. I will have a look for the middle vent you mentioned. I was thinking of having something made locally and attaching it to one of the unused demister fittings supplied with the kit. The outer vents already fitted are from a Mazda 6? They are probably larger than the V/Air ones but these work well and don’t cause any leg room/access problems. I will get them properly upholstered later.
