Is it a HK one or a later one? I think it sticks up through the floor in a van/ute/wagon. |

While the longer range tank is the same basic shape for HKT & G the venting system outlets at the top are different for all 3. The HK has no extra outlet pipe/s while HT and HG have had theirs added. The later tanks have had a hole cut and the pipes inserted. The venting and return pipes are then routed accordingly. The Taiwan factory was considering making these, but changed their mind due to doubt about potential sales to recover their tooling and production costs. Like many products these could always be reconsidered for the future. If you do put a bigger tank in then you have to use the correct fuel sender unit and not the smaller tank unit. At least the sender units have been remade for both size tanks.

To get top dollar you'd need to have the right breather tube, which I don't think would fit in a van unless you cut away a lot of metal.

As GM5735 & KBM advise you may be better off getting a tank made that will suit the Panel Van. In Melbourne Brown Davis in Bayswater have been doing tanks for years and may be able to assist you. At least you would get some indication of pricing and availability. Due to the limited number of larger tanks made specifically for each model of the sedans only they are not often up for sale.HK ones have no additional vent pipes but later ones do so that would be an issue straight away. Like all things for sale it depends on what the seller wants for it and what the buyer is willing to spend. With a secondhand tank of that vintage it is likely that rust would be the first thing to look at, let alone stone damage underneath.

If you decide to sell you've got to get the model right. Breather pipe only is a HK and if its got the extra vent pipe it's a HT/G. Both have the same breather pipe and having that should be a good selling point. Is the inner baffle intact, does it come with original working sender, any visible rust/dents, are the threads stripped on the mountings. The price is as Tour Director says, only as good as what the buyer is willing to pay. If yours is good in all areas and has top covers as well then ask what you want because there aren't many good ones left for sale.
