Hi

anyone know what's going on with the oil gauge. Shoots to full press when accessories on then when I start engine it slowly falls to zero. Sender seems ok. has an ohms reading.

Do you have a 0V strap (negative) "strap" from the battery -ve terminal to the body? Normally to radiator support.

Do the other gauges behave?

It may just be the wrong sender too.

Hi

thanks

yes it has the earth strap. Maybe wrong sender? Other gauges work ok. except for fuel.

The oil gauge did not move at all until I swapped the sender out of the HQ 253 which gave me the problem I have now. High read when on accessories and no read when idling.

It is the wrong sender.

HJ have thermal gauges & require sender VDO number 360-005.

The HD-HQ sender will operate exactly as you have described. One thing though is that the gauges should not operate in the accessory position, only with ignition on.

If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0
