Hi everyone, My name is Joe, im from Perth WA,
i have a bit of a dilemma, i found a barnfind today, 11/08/2018, its a deceased estate, it looks like a VZ premier, no rust, partially restored but no id tags at all, they were removed by the bloke when he has painted it some 10 years ago and we are currently looking for them (but i wont hold my breath),there may possibly be some old rego papers around, the numbers I do have are off the chassis and block from todays inspection,..as follows..
Chassis #
RHZ18773A
Block casting
9H6 indicating its a 308 out of a HX cast in august 1976?
the executer of the will is indicating it may be a GTS, but looking at the dash, seats etc, I believe it to be a HZ premier with fluted guards or mabe a GTS front clip.
Now the issue isnt the model to me, its more that im affraid that if the tags have been used in another car will that make this car an un-restorable wreck? I have a few pics of the interior, dash, rear seats, tranny, diff, so I was wondering if it is possible to find out ANY info on this car without the tags, having read some other forum posts, there seems to be mixed messeges on this, i'd hate to buy it and find out its only good for parts, he wants 7k for it, which I think is a great price.
Any information would be kindly appreciated? Thankyou in advance.

If it is cheap enough buy it and use the parts on another car, but $7k is too much for a parts car. It won't matter if the tags are on another car, you have the chassis number (BHZ18773A) which is the legal identity. If block is a 5.0L it will be out of a HX or an LX. You can't tell anything about it really without the tags. I wouldn't waste $ fixing a car that will always be hard to sell.

That or buy it cheaper if the car has good panels and mechanicals.

Note that HZ premier and HZ GTS share the same nose, just the guards are different. The dash on a HZ Premier will be woodgrain, but the instruments can be the same (sports dash was optional on most HZ).

Is the engine in pieces? ie how do you know it has larger valves? L34 heads are just HQ heads, same heads as HQ-HJ or LH 253 or 308 heads, just machined for bigger valves and other minor work.

yes it is, the car has a short block, the heads are off and they have the casting 2812174, apparently these were the thicker casted heads to accomodate the bigger valves and for bigger porting, these were used to modify into the L34 specs, so ive been told, correct me if im wrong cos im still learning from y'all, i had a set of standard heads and these valves are a lot bigger, but ghis car also has stato seats and dash, were these options in the HZ premiers?

2812174 are simply standard HQ-HJ and LH 253 or 308 heads. Nothing more.

You couldn't option Statesman stuff on a Holden. Someone has put it there.

Hi Tewesy,
Press the Executor of the will to check the deceased personnel items, he may have kept the plates inside his residence. Also offer a low amount like say $4000 without plates so they will look harder if you really like the car. Be Determined.
