Brick wall
Massive furfuxache moment, I have a BA Mk2 XT now owned for just over a year.

I have replaced the diff, brake pads and machined discs October 2018.

In April this year it started a sporadic on highway shudder which got worse as I slowed down under gentle braking and after looking around the car found nothing and as I drove off it was fine.
As I said it is sporadic and it sounds like a flat tyre.
It starts as a light rumble and gets worse as it continues mostly while off brakes on straight driving.
I have been stopping for a minute and it is good again.

It continued doing this until last month I got fed up and replaced shocks, struts, steering rack, tie rod ends, ball joints and all bushes also high pressure hose to power steering.
Big bucks but I want my car right.

Today was the first time I have had to drive on a freeway and dammit after driving for thirty plus ks it did it twice on the way home but without affecting the steering.

I have heard that the trick is a washer on the master cylinder could be a solution.
Also reading here about ventilated discs being a fix.
HELP please.

The problem felt like it was a tyre delaminating and shuddering as I drove at highway speed and was more pronounced under gentle braking to a stop, after a few minutes checking tyres etc it had obviously enough time to cool and was normal? again. But if continued highway speed it would start up again with twenty minutes.
Dancing Dancing Dancing Dancing PROBLEM SOLVED!
Ford told me over the phone without blinking my booster had failed that would be over $800 thanks, a tyre service centre said my discs had warped another $500, another said it was failed calipers a hefty $1000.

I might be a sheila but do have some mechanical knowledge as I was a road pilot with oversize trucks for twenty years so you sort of pick up a few ideas. Lol

And the info from these specialists? did not sit right in my gut, so I followed my gut!

I had fully replaced the diff, all bushes, struts, shocks, upper and lower control arm bushes, tie rod ends, ball joints, high pressure hose for power steering and the steering rack.

Drive shaft and Uni joints were also checked.

These were going to be done anyway as the cars suspension maintenance history is unknown.

The exact issue is brakes over heating due to slight pressure from the calipers, prior tips had been tap the brakes but this did not rectify the problem.

My mechanic (ex Ford, put the washers on the rod adjuster every time a BA came in with this issue rather than Ford doing a recall) wound back the rod which was adjusted fully in and it popped when he released it, which it should not do, also placing two thin washers which in no way has affected braking integrity, he would never put me at risk and after some serious highway travel (Melbourne to Swan Hill) this week it has been an awesome car to drive like it was before April just better with new suspension.

On top of this the brake pedal feels normal now not like it was throwing me through the windscreen.

My sons BA had the same issue, Im fairly sure his mechanic replaced the brake master cylinder and problem was fixed.
Can’t ask as him, he is currently on deployment in Afghanistan.
