10 all together if you count the Trimatic ones fitted to the late HTs.

I had counted 10 in the parts catalogue, did they make all of them also in LHD.

I can think of 11 used locally:
6cyl 6cyl Trimatic 186S 186S auto 186S Trimatic 253 253/308 Trimatic 307 auto 307 manual 308 350
Although I can't remember what is different between 186S manual and 186S auto (maybe kickdown?), so that might mean 10. Also did some 350 auto have a straight shaft? Or is that just some HG? |

I've not seen a LHD set-up, but it would be much shorter than the RHD version, so might not need a cross shaft as such. The parts catalogue does list most LHD parts, so it might be listed as a piece of linkage elsewhere in the catalogue. Dr Terry |

Because the 307 manual combo wasn't officially available in HT, that cross shaft isn't listed, making it 10 in total. I can't think what the difference would be between the auto & manual for 186S either. The Powerglide kick down rod comes off the carby itself, so the cross shaft isn't effected by that. It's a good question, you would need to see the 2 cars side by side to compare them. Dr Terry |

307 manual HT were made though, I have details of at least 3 of them, plus the 1-A 81837 with a 327 which possibly used the 327/307 shaft. Whether or not they were made for HT or not is another question, but in order for them to be used in HT they had to have been made for that purpose. Update, I spoke to Ben but he gave a way the cross-shaft off his 307 manual HT GTS years ago when he fitted the 302, and it has a 350 one on it now. So it is possible that any HT 307 manual used HT 350 shaft, but given there were no HT GTS350 made until much later and all the 307 manual HT GTS known were either part of the pilot run made during HK production or very early HT volume production (Ben's car is very early Pagewood, single digit build) they may also have used the HK 307M/327 cross shaft. So the answer is 10, possibly 11. Edited by user Wednesday, 29 April 2020 5:16:22 PM(UTC)

Great info guys.
Was it only the HKTG models fitted with the high performance 4 Spd that had the hydraulic clutch.

No. HK-HG with SBC design engines and M21 transmission plus 3spd crash box HK. There is some odd export and LHD versions too from memory. |

Wasn't the M21 also available behind the 186S. I have pictures of Gts and base Monaro's with M20 with throttle shafts for a hydraulic clutch but no clutch main cylinders?

M21 was optional on most HK-HT 6cyl, M22 was standard 4spd for 6cyl commercials too. M21 was also optional or standard on just about all V8 HT-HG as well. Wasn’t uncommon to find the bent shafts where there was no hydraulic clutch. |
