Guys
Looking for the following heads. Some are to make up a pair, some are simply to get heads to cc the chambers as i'm recording all the SBC heads fitted to Holden or Statesman. Heads need to be standard, so no chamber work, no big valves or no port work. Some can be cracked as stated below.
3927188. I need one of these, cracked or not to confirm the chamber size of the Canadian HK GTS327 engine. Head must be made in Canada.
3919291. I'm looking for a good one of these to make up a pair. As I have a good 291 I could use it on the passenger side and use a 462 on the driver's side. The only difference is the temperature sender boss on the 291. Would prefer another 291 though if possible.
3947041. Looking for one of these to get the HT GTS350 manual engine's correct cc size. Cracked is fine. I have access to a 3927186 to cc for the HDT alternate head but not sure if it is a virgin head or not. All of these should be Tonawanda cast, but should have a big T under the rocker covers. Most 3927186 examples will be Flint heads.
3973370. Need one of these also for the last of the HG GTS350 manual engines. I assume the head will be made in Canada. Almost impossible to find this head in Canada or the USA.
3932441. I have a Tonawanda one of these for HT-HG GTS350 auto, and a Flint example as well but I need a Canadian one of these for early HQ. Just want to check if they are different. The Tonawanda and Flint heads are slightly different so the St Catharine's (Canadian) head may be different again.
3998993. Need a Canadian one of these for later HQ.
I already have:
3911032 for HK-HT 307. 3917290 for 1968 Impala/Parisienne and HK GTS327 Tonawanda engine. 3932441 Tonawanda for HT-HG GTS350 auto. Could do with another of these to make up a pair. 3973487 Canadian for middle HQ. Could do with another of these to make up a pair.
Also trying to find what heads the GMH assembled 1967 Impala/Parisienne had on them. This is a rare engine in the USA so no info around. I think the heads will be 3891492, 3876775 3837775, 3814482 or maybe 3854520. It'll depend upon whether these are Canadian engines or Tonawanda and whether they are 8.5:1 or 9:1, unfortunately GMH quote the same 8.75:1 that they claim for the 1968 engine which is wrong (it is 9:1-ish). I think the intake is a Tonawanda 3905393 regardless of whether the engine is Canadian or Tonawanda built.

without digging up my chev book which I cant seem to find, the 492 head your referring to is that the angled plug head? also sometimes called the "turbo" head? |

I can't see a 492 in my post? 462 yes, it is the 1962-1967 327 275hp and 300hp head plus the 1967 350 295hp head. Also used on 1967 Z28 302 and 327 325hp and 350hp but with 202/1.6 valves. There are a few different casting numbers:
3767462 (these are only small valve 70cc heads and not what i'm after). 3782462 3814462 3890462
The slant plug turbo head is a 340292. I have 4 of these in the shed. |

I’m still looking for some of these. I now have a pair of 3927188. So still looking for: Single 3917291 in either type (2.02/1.6 or 1.94/1.5 valves as I have one of each). Single or pair of 3947041. Single or pair of 3973370. Single Tonawanda cast 3932441. Edited by user Friday, 10 September 2021 5:03:03 PM(UTC)

It is full for a reason - to stop constant PM questions 99% of which could be asked on the forum. Just post here or send an email. |

I picked up 5 SBC heads today for $50. Some are basically useless, like a pair of Tonawanda 1963 power packs that have had 1.94/1.5 valves fitted and drilled/tapped in the ends for an inboard. However in them is a pair of standard 3917291 1968 fuelies, and only one of them with a hole in the end, so the good one can be a mate for the odd one I have. The other head is a good HK-HT 307 head. Also came with a single XT5 (WB, VC-VH) V8 head if anyone needs one. I also think I’m onto some odd 3947041 and 3973370 heads but may have to buy all of them along with some other odd fuelies. Fingers crossed! So might have all I have been chasing other than the odd Tonawanda 3932441 and an original 2.20/1.6 3917291 although finding another one of these might be a challenge as the only engines that had them were 1968 Z28 302 and L79 327. I don't/won't use it for a number of reasons. Like security, PC vulnerability etc. Plus actually using it probably reduces your IQ so much that you forget how to leave it! A bit like when you turn the TV on and some idiot program like that MAFS show, or the Island show (where all women's faces look like they have been stung by a bee), comes on and your IQ drops so much you forget how to change the channel or turn it off! |
