I had a guy in at work last week & he asked for some parts for his car. I asked him which engine he had & he said it was an "iron Lion".
I said a what !! He said you know an iron Lion, a 308 Holden cast iron V8. I said to him that I've been working on Holdens of all types since the 60s & have never heard that term. He said he & his mates have always called them this. Maybe it's a Melbourne vs Sydney thing or something, but has anybody else heard of this before ?

I first heard the term on a Skid Factory Youtube video from 2019. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lgNTN9p8O-oI think they are Queensland based. Even parts shops are using the term. https://www.tiperformance.com.au/engine/308/

Yeah, I’ve heard it over the last few years on YouTube and the like. I’m in Sydney, but I’ve only heard it online. |

I have heard the term , originally I'm sure it was a new cast 308 block advertised (performance) brand of some kind
But then it was used on social media by "experts" that have been into holdens for 5 minutes. Similar to "long roof" for wagons, + "styleside" for utes, I see as attention seeking. Just my opinion

Just another modern term that’s ridiculous. Sick to death of people who can’t understand what a Ute, van and one tonner are also.
