I was even offered a brand new V2III CV8R really cheap, it was an old stock car but still not yet registered, but I didn't want red or a sunroof. I loved the two CV8-R’s, especially the Pulse Red one with the sunroof! But loved the Devil Yellow right from the start. The V2 was a car to get “one day”, but I might have left my run too late. No room to park one these days. But a man can dream. One concern I had is whether the seats are mounted too low for me to see out? I’m only a short *rse at 5’7” |

Seats are fine, my Mrs is about 5’9 “ and had no issues. They are memory linked to the keys too, if I opened the car the seat moved to my spot, hers to her spot. My V2 was the only car I ever owned that I could sit in and drive until I needed fuel. Everything else my @rse went to sleep within 30min. And I’m talking cars with Recaro, Scheel and SAAS seats too. The Ram is pretty close though, I drive it from Costco Marsden Park West Sydney to Epping VIC in one go and feel fine, but the V2 was better. I bought a mint pair of black V2 seats from a low km wreck for my HK GTS I liked them that much. |

The VZ fuel tank for the Pontiac GTO was done because of the US rear crash test laws, so we kept it here. They also got the 6.0lt engine. I picked up my Black with red interior V2 S3 with 230K kms in 2016 for $13,500 It was an ex Q/land Theiss company car that ended up in S.A and then here(vic) Body was very good with a small crease above RHR wheel arch and usual stone chipped front bar. Interior was/is VGC ie top of door trims/drivers seat bolster/hood lining were great which is what I wanted. Black looks great for 10mins after you've washed them, then the dust appears like magic. Every year I think hard about selling it because of low use, but after going for a drive, I always end up enjoying it. Edited by user Monday, 7 July 2025 6:24:40 PM(UTC)

When did the Statesman (or base Caprice) become V6 only?
Or to put it another way, which was the last Statesman (or base Caprice) to be available with a V8 option?
Was it WL? WM? |

Was it WL? WM? AFIAK the Statesman (VQ onwards) was always available a V8. For VQ Series 1 they were V8 only, from VQII onwards the V8 was an option. When the Statesman was renamed the (base) Caprice for WM Series II, they were V6 only, sometimes LPG. Dr Terry |
If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0 |
