Hey guys
I'm looking for correct information/ knowledge:
What is the most reliable way to check vin/chassis numbers for cars sitting for 20, 30, + years (nsw only). The ones that someone has for sale, stripped body sitting in a paddock, etc, that you would spend many $$$ on, then front up to register & discover it been missing for years with finance still owing, etc

Also engine or blocks sitting under benches for years, that they now want to sell.
Any up to date info, that anyone has 1st hand knowledge of - n.s w. please incl relevant rego departments.
Thanks for any help.
I repeat, looking for nsw particulary

I've normally done REVS check in the past for vehicle or chassis, but they cost $25 each now. For engines I used to use a chassis number I knew was OK and use the engine number with it. These will tell you if the chassis or the engine number are listed as stolen at least in the last 40 years or so. It does cover other State records too.
