AFAIK the VIN tag goes like this:
8 - Holden
D - Trim level (GTR)
11 - Body style (2-door sedan)
L - Engine code (202/3300 6-cyl)
D - 74 Model year (built from Sept 1 1973 to Aug 30 1974)
H5 - Pagewood build
291634 - Production sequence number (Matches the chassis number stamp)
J - LJ (you missed this one)
568-13134 - Dulux paint shade number for Glacier White
1821 - GMH code number for Glacier White all over (Single Tone)
58X - Doeskin & Chestnut interior trim.

This isn't a Pagewood assembled LJ, no such thing. It is Acacia Ridge bodied and assembled.
8 means GMH not Holden. Bedfords, Chevrolet, Isuzu etc all use the 8.
D means GTR or XU1. This one is a GTR.
H291634 is the PSN for the car. This is always done wrongly, the way GMH presented it in documents confuses people. People normally try and decode it and tell you H2 means Acacia Ridge and 91634 is some some fictious sequence number, it isn't as 91634 is repeated many times across multiple assembly plants. It is simply a PSN as a whole: H291634.
568-13134 is the refinish code for Glacier White paint.
1821 is the GMH paint combination colour for Glacier White.
H291634 was a GTR completed on 7th September 1973. Its engine number was JL283290. It was a standard GTR with L20, M20 gearbox and G93 (3.08) rear axle. It was sold in September 1973 so it was probably a Stock Order car (built by GMH for sale), sold by I think Leahy Motors in Emerald QLD. |
