Was at a mates place the other day. He was telling me about a Walkinshaw Commodore wagon he had previously owned. He believed it was one out of seven made. I tried to explain, that as I know a bit more about cars than him, he should trust me that there is no such car. And that his must have just been a VL wagon with a body kit. Can anyone tell us how many Walkinshaws sedans(and wagons)were made. Thanks guys.

I think they originally planned 750 and had trouble selling that last of them. I remember reading some got converted to Calais front? Never heard of a wagon version.

I thought the Walkinshaw was a hideously over done car at the time and still do now, I could not imagine a wagon.
I remember seeing them at the HDT Factory in Port Melbourne back in 86. I was an Apprentice Sparky connecting all the workshop hoists, interesting but na, not my cup of tea.

There has been an owner-built wagon, that looks as good as what a factory would have built. Theres also a blue genuine VL Brock wagon that used to be in WA, but moved to NZ around 4 years ago - it had a walky bonnet scoop on it prior to its nearly finished restoration.
But the factory (be it GMH or HSV) never built one.
There are 12 VL HDT (ie, BROCK) wagons that I can verify.

I was working in final production at GMH during the end of the VL and didn`t recall any wagons for walkinshaw, I did see the calais wagon however it was based on a berlina wagon, when i checked out the interior I did notice it did not have the calais interior light fitted only a standard light.

Yes, thats right cloudy, Holden did produce 200 Calais wagons in 1988 - in 2 colours only, Imperial Blue & Cardinal Red, both with grey trim.
They are all marked VL8VL35-A9Y on the body plate to denote this - A9Y being the option code for the Calais wagon.

Where I worked many years ago we were responsible for downgrading the Walkingshaws, we changed the front to Calais, removed the bonnet and boot scoops which included changing the bonnet and boot, and some we removed the side moulds, Id never painted so much panorama green in my life.
