Ive got a 67 HR with disc brake front end.

We've been looking at this front end over the past couple of weeks, and I need some others advice into it. I'm looking at changing the front wheel studs for longer studs. When we've ordered the studs and checked through all the catalogue's, we've ordered what is supposed to fit an HR disc front end (knurl diameter 12.2). However once we've pulled the front end down, we've discovered the knurl diameter on the hub in my HR is 16.3 (or thereabouts). The problem is, that with a 16.3 knurl, the nuts might then to to thick to fit through my new rims - even though the standard rims are fitting fine (the car is currently running standard HR 13 inch rims.

Do you think that somewhere along the history of the car, someone has installed a different hub, or are we just reading things wrong. My mechanic is scratching his head too, as are the guys I'm trying to get the studs through. Does anyone have any advice here, or is the answer so simple we can't see it?

Isnt it extremely common to have Torana componentry on the front of HD/HR holdens? Or am i getting models confused?

Thanks for that info so far. Does anyone know what the knurl diameter is on Torana hubs so that I can check to see if this is in fact the case?

ok Ive looked at this further. My hubs and discs are standard, so this doesnt explain why my hub knurl size for the studs would be larger. Does anyone know if the hubs are interchangeable between HR and later models, and if those later models have a larger stud knurl size? Even after pulling the front end down (and it was all HR componentry) it doesnt make sense as to why HR lengthened studs (off the shelf) had too small a knurl size to push into the hub.

The knurl diameter for studs up to HG is larger than HQ onwards & Toranas.

From memory the early studs knurl is around 14mm & the later one is around 12mm.

Most commercial parts catalogues have these all listed incorrectly as being the same as HQ onwards Toranas.

I think the long stud you need is Nice Products S1460.

the simplest way to tell if you have hr disc hubs is they have countersunk philip head screws or allen key head screws holding the hub to disc...lc lj torana and hktg have bolts..

going to church makes you no more a christian than standing in a garage makes you a car...

Yes they certainly have the countersunk screws (which I replaced recently). Ok - so it def looks like full HR componentry in the front end.
