I need some guru advice on double valve springs.... I picked up a set of Speco rev master, double valve springs at the shepparton swap on the weekend & the guy wasnt exactly sure if they were for a 186/202 red or possably even something else, as they had been in the shed for a while, there is no part no on the box, but they are in a 70's / 80's style Speco branded box with "rev master", the uncompressed height of the springs are 46mm, the internal dia of the smaller spring is 15.5mm & outer dia of larger spring is 30.9mm. So from the diamentions is it possible to determin what they are for???

first i would try them on a head to see if they fit in the seat and retainer, remembring some springs need the seats cut and different style of retainer. after that refer to cam spec sheet for installed heights and seat and open pressures if all seems ok dummy assemble engine and check for coild bind (clerance) and retainer to valve guide clerance when fully open. also check rocker arm to retainer clearance and rocker arm does not run out of travel hitting it,s mounting post also valve train geometry (push rod length) dont forget to check piston to valve clearnce if a new cam. saying all of this a certain style of spring my fit more than one type engine. we used harley davidson spring on chevs and clevelands for example hope this helps. pete.
