Hi
I have bought an HG with a hydraulic clutch and supposedly rebuilt Supra 5 speed with new clutch.
I have not been able to road test the car yet as it has no exhaust, but the clutch pedal return seems very slow and theres been some drag getting it on & off trailers.
It's PBR master and slave cylinders and we have bled the system, and the cylinders seem to move through their complete movement.
It's just a slow returning clutch pedal.
Any ideas?? Master cylinder, slave cylinder or maybe the clutch???
Cheers

I think that there should there be a tension spring on the clutch fork next to the slave cylinder to help the clutch return and to keep the thrust bearing from riding on the back of the pressure plate when your foot is off the clutch.
If at first you dont succeed then skydiving is not for you. |

Maybe your fluid lines arent big enough to allow the return of fluid to the master cyliner quickly enough?
Another problem i encountered on a hydraulic conversion in a mates HZ with Supra 5 speed was the angle at which the pushrods plunged the cups inside both master and slave cylinder. It caused slightly sticky action and also allowed small amounts of air to creep past the cyliner seals and into the lines.
Theyre usually mounted quite simply so adjusting this angle is easy. |
