Have new crate ls2 in my chevelle all stock ex GM since start up it has had lifter/tapet type noise sometimes it goes away completly not often though engine holds good oil preasure hot and cold does not over heat steady around 180 190 on gauge runs and drives normal. Have had rocker covers off all seems good, no metal in oil but it annoys me to hear it any holden mechanics on here have any ideas or are they as someone said all a bit noisey at first have done around 700 ks so far

i found the same with my ls1. i was told. its okay just we are used to hearing a motor thats cast iron and now we have an alloy block. it doesnt muffle the sound the same.

Mate brought ls2 same time as me same batch of engines his not the same this has got to be more than acceptable noise from new engine anyone else have this problem with new motor
