When installing bits that pass through the firewall, what did GMH use to seal against the fire wall??

Im thing stuff like the steering column plate, brake push rod plate, heater plates etc.

Im not sure of the original sealant but some of the black sika flex suff might be ok .I know what the original stuff looks like its a white chalking compound also found under the top lip of your guards and between body and front apron. Usually its still soft and gooey ktg so what ever was used it never was a hard setting compound hope this helps .

Caulking compound would be very close, and it comes in black. Sikaflex is pretty expensive around $20 a pop and if you use it make sure you have a supply of latex gloves on hand because if you get it on your skin it takes weeks to wear off.
