Hi there all those who are old enough to remember :)
Ive seen lots of HG Premiers, Broughams etc getting around with whitewalls and I know the Monaros seem to have red on their Aquajets.
Were they available factory, or was this an aftermarket thing?
If factory, was there a width/location on the sidewall that I can get copied?
I ask for both the red for the Monaro and the white for the Prems.
Cheers

Hi Jeremy.
The Red Wall tyre (or Red Band as it was called) was standard on GTS up to around 1972/73 & was a factory option for other models.
AFAIK the White Wall (White Band) was standard for Premier & LS Monaro in that same era. It was also optional for other models.
The width of the band for HK/HT/HG/HQ was around 12mm. There are various aftermarket companies who can apply these to your current tyres.

Ask WE WRECK Frank, he is quite in the know in this area. He tells me tyres really need to be 10000K old to have any real chance of the red color staying on if aftermarket applied. I cannot keep it on my HT they are about 1100 miles old and I have tried various paints with no luck.
