do the gen3 5.7 in vt vx etc have the same bolt pattern as the early chev v8s ??

Yes, but they also have a few more bolts than the Gen I and II SBCs.

thanks, so a gen 3 6 sp or auto would bolt up to an early chev?

have seen turbo 400 bolted up to one but you need an adaper spigot made to get the convertor nose in the crank, probally same with manual, really chev would be crazy to change bolt patern think of all the engines it loose sale to hotrods and old cars etc
