anyone know what they mean? they are found inside the doors between the hinges, they always start with E

some examples are E1J9, E2K9, E3H9

there not in all doors, what do the mean? why were they put there?

opps i forgot to mention that, lol

the codes are found on doors from HQ-WB i have found that the earlier the door the less likely to have the code

most of the HQ doors ive looked at dont have it, but all WB doors ive loked at do have it

Commodores have these on doors (under the belt strip), bonnets, boots, and even in a really well hidden area on part of the structure, that catches out most re-birthers who dont know its there.

Nearly all the commodore ones (thousands) Ive seen start with an E, however I have seen a few that start with an upside down capital L (almost like the middle & bottom horizontal bars of the E had broken off).

Ignoring that first letter (be it an E or an L), one would think that its simply a date code, and done the same as engine casting codes. However..... Ive only ever seen 1, 2, 3 & 4 used where the date code would normally be, so could that mean the week of the month, not necessarily the day like casting numbers?

I generally only look at commodores, however I have seen WB stato bootlids with these stanmps on the underside, near the boot lock.

Cheers,

Mick

They are usually mixed, but all very close - eg E1H7 x2, E3H7 and E4G7 are the 4 doors I pulled off an original untouched VL recently.
