Hi all;
I have a HK prem, 350 chev with a 2 speed powerglide. It was a good old original girl before some nutcup decided to install a b&m pro ratchet shifter. I want to re-fit the column shift linkages as per original. Can I use the linkages out of a 6 cyl powerglide setup, or do I need to source the v8 ones? Are they different?
The same nutcup also drilled through a perfectly good dash pad for his monster tacho, and painted the engine bay purple with a spray pack! Wish I could give him a slap!
Cheers and Thanks;
Geoff

You need V8 ones. 6cyl go across under the torque converter. V8 has a different setup. Im pretty sure that HT 253/308 powerglide setup will work on a Chev setup. Its a long time since I playes with one. Ill look and see what I have in the shed too. I wrecked out a HK Brougham many years ago and most of that sort of stuff is still here.

Cheers mate; thanks for that. No doubt this sort of stuff will be hard to come by. I look forward to seeing if you have the gear.
Cheers;

I have a ht 186 with a powerglide which is a great and very reliable unit . The only problem is the linkages are worn badly after the constant use over the years and would like to know if ther is any body in melb that can repair or overhaul them . Perhaps there is a repair kit available ? A mate told me its because the linkages go to the left side of the box and being an american unit it was handy for them and not us when coupled to a column shift . There are qiute a few joins until it gets to the tranny !

If byron does no good and you get really stuck give me a call as i have the complete set up including the steering column , as i was going to put a full chev driveline in my van and i just wrecked a grandpa car HT 307 to get it all . As i do this for a job and am not just clearing the garage out like many are , i wont be cheap though . So maybe let me know how much of it you need and will work out a price for you . Found some stuff. Ill dig it out and see how much is there. There is lots of little brackets, springs etc involved. The throttle kickdown is involved as well from memory. Page 188 of the blue HK parts catalogue or page 196 of the yellow one will show you. You can download the yellow HK catalogue at gmh-torana.com.au if its still there.

I can only find 1 x complete setup which I wish to keep. By complete I mean from column attachment through to lever on the side of the box and kickdown linkages. The other 2 x setups are missing bits, so try James. If his isnt complete I might have the bits to complete it.
