I have recently installed wheel arch and sill moulds on my monaro and was hoping an expert in here could clarify whether the body colour below the moulds is supposed to be black? i.e. both wheel arches and along the sill. |

Here is a link to a claimed unmolested HT. It looks to be black under the wheel arch moulds. http://australianmusclec...-gts-monaro-bathurst-350

Yep everywhere under the wheelarch and sill moulds is Warrigal black . By the way the black inlay in your side mouldings is incorrect (except the boot mould does have the black inlay) although i have seen people do it before and i quite like it . It was correct on HK Brougham , HT Prem /Brougham and HG Kingswood /Prem and Brougham also . Not HT Kinga or Monaro . Hope this helps clarify things www.monaromuscleparts.comEdited by user Saturday, 16 January 2010 7:52:57 AM(UTC)

As well as the black, if your car is a Pagewood assembled car you have the gold stripes right. If its Dandenong, Acacia or Elizabeth build they should stop at the flute.

Thanks for the confirmation and also the info on the black inlay. I quite like the black inlay too. |

apart from being dress stainless the purpose of the sill and wheel arch and boot moulds on HKTGs is to hide the paint join between 2 different colour paints....
only the boot mould has a black infill as this links the black in fill between the tailights which also have the infill on GTS models only...
i actually quite like the infill on the wheel arch mould in your picture... it doesnt make the mould so "in your face"....
congrats to you it looks like you have done a great job on the resto
cheers Al

This isnt quite correct. Take HK GTS for example, they dont have black beneath the wheel arch moulds, either do HT Kingswoods or Premiers etc. Take each model as it comes. true about the HK Dr T... my error.... but unlike the HT GTS the HK GTS didnt have a sill mould only wheel archmoulds... on the HT they were specifically to hide the paint join... factory colour above the mould... black below.. AL

l, Im with Dr T. The moulds on a HT Kingswood arent there to hide a paint join and they are in the same spot as a GTS. Although I may be wrong my guess is GMH just took advantage of the moulds to change from body colour to black.

Byron the guys car is a monaro and i may have used too broad a statement using the common term HKTG but i was only referring to the moulds on his monaro as that was what his question referred to... i never mentioned anything about a kingswood at all and neither did he... but I do take yours and Dr T points for sure...
cheers Al

Al, all fixed!
I get what you meant, but one thing "we" do try to be careful about here is spreading more "rumours" about GMH product, ie not 100% factual information. Youd know as well as I or Dr Terry that there is so much BS out there that sometimes comes from people reading something in a way it wasnt intended and then it becomes facts after the Chinese whispers get at it. You can see it now - Yep the mould on the boot of a HK GTS is to separate the black at the bottom from the body colour...

Thanks Jim. I could leave it the way it is, although the gold stripes down the side of the car extend to the front and rear edges of the rear wheel arch. This means you can see the stripes on the inside of the mould at the rear wheel arch, albeit I dont mind that too much. At least if I decide to change it Ive got the details on the correct colour now. |
