Gday everybody.

I am after the paint code for the 18 inch VT Commodore GTS rims. They are the gold/champagne coloured ones.

The local paint supply shop only makes the paint by the code.

All help will be appreciated with this.

Hard one. I have the same wheels but in silver off my V2 CV8. Paint color and gloss level are hard to find. If you do find someone with it let me know as I have to get those repaired and painted plus a set of V2 series II CV8 satin rims as well.

Byron, I can get the silver info for you - give me a few days.

The gold will be a lot harder. I have the code for the inserts in the VT 50th Calais rims, and although its close, it appears that its not the same champagne gold as the HSV rims.

I have a local paint supplier near me, who will do a colour match from a sample. I repaired a VL once that had gold bumpers & lower door panels. I had to fit a new passenger door & guard (he left the door open & backed out of the garage).
The gold on the lower section was not the calais gold - someone had done it themselves.
I took the guard down so he could eyeball the colour, and he also used it as a sample pad for testing out a few variations in the mix until he got it right.
He actually started by finding a mazda colour that was very close, and played with the formula a little bit to get it perfect. Once the paint was on the new parts on the car, you wouldnt even know it was a different colour, and it was a better match than the paint code formula derived colour we used on the top half.

The trouble is finding someone like that in your local area.

Cheers,

Mick
