So it seems the 308 in the G is fairly stock as a rock, but fresh and well put together. Remembering its VN fuel injected top end.
It also has '10.5mm High Temp Spiral Core Cable' leads from Queensland Ignition Leads installed.
Will these leads make any difference to performance in this tune of engine over the stock factory leads??
Cheers
Jeramy

Probably not noticeably, but they will help when the ignition system starts getting a bit tired. Its all about making the path for the spark across the electrode the most desirable path for the electricity to travel. It will look for all kinds of shortcuts (through rotors, around the outside of dirty plugs) so the easier the real path is the less likely to divert

This is the biggest myth in the ignition industry. 10.5mm leads DO NOT conduct electricity any better than the skinny 5mm stuff you see on Toyotas. The only difference is the thickness of the insulation. Unless youve got a massive magneto or some super HEI system putting out 100+kV youre wasting your money with 10.5mm leads They are only for show. The main drama I have in the workshop with these thick leads is how badly they fit into the dissy cap & coil tower. Stick with a good quality set of 7 or 8mm with a spiral core & you cant go wrong. Thanks Jabba and Terry
Thats the problem Im having with them Terry - they look good but take up so much room - and there aint much around the dizzy in the G!!!
So are the factory leads spiral core Terry?? And what diameter would they be?
Cheers
Jeremy

The original factory leads on the EFI V8 were 8mm Packard brand grey non-spiral leads. The factory replacement leads are now 8mm Bougicord spiral core, similar in look to the ones you see on VT-VY V6s.
I stock these & they sell for $88 including GST. They fit the dissy cap & coil & the various lead clips much better than the fat leads do.
