Does anyone here do shot welding on small stainless steel parts? I need a small surgical instrument (like tweezers) repaired. It is around 1/16 stainless wire that needs the little finger cup reattached. The cup is about 7/16 long on the major axis. Had a quick try with standard solder but it doesnt stick.

We have used our standard pedestal spot welder at our work to do 304 stainless sheet, and it is perfect spot welds. Maybe this type of equipment will work on the tweezers.

Thanks guys. You want to give it a shot Pete? You got a dog (or cat)? I can do you a deal on some flea/tick/worm treatment or pay cash. Its pretty small, about the size of your mrs eyebrow tweezers, little longer but thin wire.

LOL. I am not a dog person, and our cat went for the green dream. I am surprised if there is not someone in the West that can do it for you.

Our cat pet was dumped on us as unwanted though. Cat is gone now. We are going to get a couple of chickens.

I think it would be possible to silver solder it there are small gas welders you can buy from Dick smith and Altronics etc for about $30 that run on butane they could probably do it.
